Pressure continues to mount at Kaizer Chiefs after a turbulent 24 hours that saw the club report some supporters to the police, while players and coaches defended the team amid growing criticism.
The Soweto giants have endured a difficult spell in the Premier Soccer League, losing several recent matches and falling far behind title rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, which has intensified frustration among supporters.
Chiefs report some fans to police after Naturena protest
Club management confirmed they reported a section of supporters to the police following demonstrations outside the team’s training base at Naturena Village.
A group of fans had delivered a memorandum demanding the departure of co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef after Amakhosi’s poor run of results.

However, Corporate Communications Manager Vina Maphosa explained that some individuals allegedly behaved in a disorderly manner and appeared intoxicated, prompting the club to involve authorities.
The decision sparked a mixed reaction from supporters on social media, with some accusing the club’s leadership of threatening fans, while others defended the management for taking action against what they described as hooliganism.
Kaze urges supporters to stay realistic
Amid the growing criticism, Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze suggested that some supporters had set unrealistic expectations after the club ended its decade-long trophy drought by winning the Nedbank Cup last season.

The victory secured Amakhosi a place in the CAF Confederation Cup alongside Stellenbosch FC.
Kaze insisted the club is still in a rebuilding phase and urged observers to judge the technical team only after the current campaign concludes.
Maboe dismisses dressing-room rumours
Midfielder Lebohang Maboe also moved to calm speculation that the coaches had lost the dressing room.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns player insisted the squad remains united behind the coaching staff and believes recent results do not reflect the team’s overall performances.
Maboe acknowledged that Chiefs have dropped points despite creating numerous chances in several matches, adding that the squad remains confident they can turn things around.

Crucial test awaits Amakhosi
With their hopes of continental qualification fading, Kaizer Chiefs will look to halt their losing streak when they face Durban City FC at FNB Stadium this weekend.
For now, tensions between fans and management, pressure on the coaching staff, and the club’s inconsistent form remain the biggest talking points surrounding Amakhosi.
