Stellenbosch have strengthened their squad with the arrival of Nigerian midfielder Adeyanju Kazeem barely a day before playing Kaizer Chiefs in the Premier Soccer League.

So far, they have signed Thabiso Lebitso (Orlando Pirates), Sinoxolo Kwayiba (Chippa United), Terrence Mashego (Mamelodi Sundowns, Loan), George Matlou, Tlakusani Mthethwa (Richards Bay), Given Msimango (Kaizer Chiefs), Ashley Du Preez (Kaizer Chiefs), and Gopolang Taunyana (Kaizer Chiefs).

According to the club, the West African is eligible to play against the Glamour Boys on Tuesday at the FNB Stadium.

In the most recent three games across all competitions, between the teams, Stellies have two wins and a draw in regulation time. But in five latest PSL games, Amakhosi have three victories and two defeats.

The announcement by Stellies

“Stellenbosch Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Nigerian midfielder Lateef Adeyanju Kazeem on a free transfer,” they confirmed through their media team.

“Having concluded all formalities last month, Stellenbosch FC has bolstered its ranks with the acquisition of Lateef Adeyanju Kazeem, who most recently plied his trade in the Nigerian PFL with Plateau United.

“He will become the fifth Nigerian player to represent Stellenbosch, following in the footsteps of Stanley Dimgba, Ibraheem Jabaar, Kazie Enyinnaya, and Olisa Ndah.

“Kazeem will wear the No. 29 jersey this season and could be in line to make his debut when the Club takes on Kaizer Chiefs in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday evening,” Stellenbosch concluded.

This will be a massive game for either team: Amakhosi want to keep up with rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns while the Maroons are also keen on surging upwards in the log.
