Kaizer Chiefs provide update on Nasreddine Nabi

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that coach Nasteddine Nabi will not be in the dugout for the Home of Legends Cup on Saturday as he recovers from a minor orthopedic operation.

Chiefs are among four teams set to feature in the tournament at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on November 16 but they will be without their head coach with his assistants Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze set to be in charge.

Amakhosi are featuring in the tournament alongside Mamelodi Sundowns, Chippa United and Golden Arrows and they will face Abafana Bes'thende in the semi-final as the Brazilians take on the Chilli Boys.

“Head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, who is recovering at home after recently undergoing a minor orthopedic operation will not travel to Gqeberha,” Chiefs said through a statement.

How will the tournament be played?

“Assistant coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze will take charge of the team that will face Golden Arrows in this weekend’s Home of Legends Cup.”

The tournament had been rocked by claims of favouritsm from Chippa after they pulled out claiming they had been disrespected by not getting a fair share of the money but solved their issues and got recalled.

“The format is three matches (two semi-finals and final) in one day, after 90 minutes, it goes straight to penalties, gates will be opened at 08h00 am, the first semi-final is between Arrows and Chiefs which will kick off at 10h00. The second semi-final is at 13h00 between Chippa United and Sundowns,” said the tournament’s brand ambassador and media liaison officer Putco Mafani.
