Kaizer Chiefs recruitment boss Thembela ‘Tera’ Maliwa reveals his big ambitions

Kaizer Chiefs’ new Head of Scouting and Recruitment Thembela ‘Tera’ Maliwa has set lofty ambitions for himself at the club.

Cape Town-born Maliwa was unveiled by the Glamour Boys in August and is now leading their scouting and recruitment department in a bid to identify talents that will help coach Nasreddine Nabi build a formidable squad.

Chiefs lured the highly-rated scout from PSL rivals Mamelodi Sundowns where he served for seven years, having spent 11 years of his formative career at Ajax Cape Town, before a two-year stint in the Netherlands.

Maliwa has now explained what he intends to do to bring Amakhosi back to the top of South African football.

How does ‘Tera’ Maliwa plan to lift Amakhosi?

“I’ve spent seven years at Sundowns, great years that I spent there, learned a lot from Sundowns, being a scout there and enjoyed myself,” Maliwa told iDiski Times.

“Now, I’m where I am now at Kaizer Chiefs, it’s a dream for everyone to work for such a club and to be in this department where I have to make sure that we bring the club back to the glory days.

“Chiefs is a big team, from the first day, you just want to work for this big institution and don’t waste time. I’m very happy with my career and very ambitious. I see myself helping the club, taking them back to the glory days. It’s a dream come true for me to be here.”
