Kaizer Chiefs Transfer News: Striker joins on a permanent deal

Kaizer Chiefs have strengthened their squad with the permanent signing of striker Khanyisa Mayo.

Last season, the 26-year-old played for the Soweto giants on loan from CR Belouizdad, making 15 appearances across all competitions and finding the back of the net twice. However, it wasn’t a good campaign for him owing to back-to-back injuries.

Nevertheless, that has not stopped Amakhosi from paying a reported R10 million for the services of the forward who will be battling for a starting berth alongside Etiosa Ighodaro and Flavio da Silva.

Mayo is further hoping that the 2026/27 edition will not see him struggle as he did in his debut year with the club.

Mayo signs a permanent deal with Amakhosi

“Kaizer Chiefs have completed the permanent signing of Khanyisa Mayo from Algerian giants CR Belouizdad, following his loan spell with the Glamour Boys last season. The deal was finalised for an undisclosed fee agreed upon between the two Clubs,” the club confirmed.

“Mayo, who worked hard during his one-season loan stint, now commits his future to Chiefs as the team prepares for an ambitious campaign under head coach Fernando Da Cruz. The 27-year-old forward will be a key part of the squad competing in both the domestic league and continental CAF competitions.

“Known for his pace, creativity, and eye for goal, Mayo has already established himself as a fan favourite at Naturena. His permanent move strengthens Amakhosi’s attacking options and signals the Club’s intent to challenge for glory both locally and across Africa.
