Kaizer Chiefs suffer Nkanyiso Shinga blow days after making his debut

Versatile Kaizer Chiefs defender Nkanyiso Shinga is among 11 new players who joined Amakhosi in the off-season transfer window.

Flavio Silva (Persebaya Surabaya, Indonesia), Ethan Chislett (Port Vale, England), Paseka Mako (Orlando Pirates), Thabiso Monyane (Orlando Pirates), Siphesihle Ndlovu (SuperSport United), Asanele Velebayi (Cape Town Spurs), Etiosa Ighodaro (Mamelodi Sundowns), Luke Baartman (Cape Town Spurs), Lebohang Maboe (free), and Khanyisa Mayo (CR Belouizdad, Loan) were the other names.

However, it was not until the last three games that Chislett and Shinga made their debut; as a matter of fact, the latter played his first competitive game for the club in the 1-0 loss against Richards Bay in the Premier Soccer League outing on Tuesday night.

The 25-year-old suffered an injury in the 82nd minute, prompting the technical team to substitute him.

Bad news for Amakhosi and supporters

Soccer Laduma reports the left back could have suffered an Achilles injury, and seemingly, his campaign is done.

“Shinga is not going to be fine now, but we don’t know the story. We left Shinga at the hospital in Richards Bay. His season is done. First game, he’s an unfortunate guy,” the publication stated.

While it is definitely devastating for Shinga, who was involved in competitive football for the first time in almost a year, the likes of Paseka Mako and Bradley Cross can capitalise on the opportunity to cement their positions in the Glamour Boys.

There have been questions raised about the former Orlando Pirates star, who has not been convincing in the most recent games he has started, which might explain why Cross will most probably start in the next outing against Orbit College.
