Kaizer Chiefs Transfer News: Ashley du Preez’s new team revealed?

Last season, Ashley du Preez struggled to make his mark at Kaizer Chiefs despite getting chances.

The 28-year-old versatile attacker ended up making 12 appearances across all competitions with just a single assist to show for it. The technical team and the management have given up on Du Preez who was highly rated when he joined the club from Stellenbosch at the beginning of the 2022/23 season.

His debut season with Amakhosi happened to be his best as he scored six goals and provided five assists in the 25 Premier Soccer League matches that he played. However, things have not been the same for him since then, missing open chances in front of the goal.

In the 96 matches he played for the Soweto giants in the last four seasons, Du Preez has scored 19 goals and provided nine assists.

“Stellenbosch FC have moved a step closer to lure Ashley du Preez back to the club from Kaizer Chiefs,” iDiski Times reported.

“Stellies made their interest known shortly after the conclusion of last season, but any sort of deal was cast in doubt due to the two parties being far away in terms of personal terms.

“However, sources within the Cape Winelands club have confirmed personal terms have been agreed – and it’s now down to the club-to-club agreement to get the prospective deal over the line.

“While the deal has been mooted as part of a potential swap deal with rising talent Langelihle Phili – should the move for the winger not materialise, the club will need to negotiate a transfer fee for the mercurial forward,” they concluded.

Du Preez is not part of the Chiefs squad that has left the country for Europe for pre-season under coach Fernando Da Cruz.
