Kaizer Chiefs Transfer News: Amakhosi beat Pirates & AmaZulu to coveted star

Kaizer Chiefs have beaten their old rivals, Orlando Pirates, and AmaZulu, to the services of a coveted shot-stopper.

The Glamour Boys are in the market for players who can help them challenge for the Premier Soccer League and other domestic competitions. Furthermore, the Soweto giants will be competing with the best in Africa in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Recently, they confirmed the arrival of Thabo Moloisane who came in as a free agent following the expiry of his contract at Stellenbosch. On Friday, they confirmed the exit of Tashreeq Morris who has been linked to Durban City, while Aden McCarthy was sold to Sabah of Azerbaijan. George Matlou and Happy Mashiane have also been let go.

Reports have it that goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari might be either sold or sent on loan after Bruce Bvuma’s deal was extended. Nevertheless, the management feel the need to bring another custodian to compete with Brandon Petersen and Bvuma.

New signing imminent

Amakhosi have been chasing Renaldo Leaner after his impressive showings with Sekhukhune United. The 28-year-old was also linked with Pirates as well as Mamelodi Sundowns and AmaZulu.

“Kaizer Chiefs have won the race for goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner; the Soweto giants have beaten rivals Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu to his signature,” SABC Sport reported.

“The public broadcaster established that Chiefs have now tabled a firm offer to the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, with only the final formalities, including personal terms and a medical, still to be concluded before the move is completed.

“Barring any late complications, the former Sekhukhune player is expected to complete his move to Naturena in the coming days,” they concluded.
