Mamelodi Sundowns Transfer News: Downs beat Pirates to statement signing

Published on by

Premier Soccer League heavyweights Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the signing of Bafana Bafana international Siyanda Ndlovu from Golden Arrows.

The 22-year-old was being chased by top teams owing to his fine performances last season, but it was Orlando Pirates who were heavily linked with him. The departure of Relebohile Mofokeng and the potential loss of Oswin Appollis were expected to hasten the process.

Interestingly, Skhwishi, as he is commonly referred to, even completed his medical with the Soweto giants on Thursday last week, only for the player and the Sea Robbers to fail to agree on the package tabled.

It is then that the CAF Champions League defending champions saw an opportunity and fully capitalised on it.

Sundowns confirm the arrival of Ndlovu

The immidiate former Premier Soccer League champions have now confirmed the signing of the talented attacker.

“Siyanda Ndlovu has arrived! Welcome to the home of Champions,” the Brazilians said in a short statement. “My name is Siyanda Ndlovu, and I’m happy to be yellow,” the attacker couldn’t hide his happiness after the deal was sealed.

Last season, Ndlovu played 31 games for Abafana Bes’thende across all competitions, with a return of four goals and eight assists. In his 7 matches for Arrows, the South Africa winger managed eight goals and 13 assists, underlining his effectiveness in front of the goal.

Ndlovu joins Antonio Van Wyk, who was signed from Austrian Bundesliga team SV Ried to strengthen Masandawana. The Brazilians are set to reclaim the PSL title from the Sea Robbers, who finally won it after 14 years.
