Kaizer Chiefs told which goalkeeper to sign

Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo has recommended a specific type of goalkeeper for Amakhosi to acquire, aiming to bolster their goalkeeping department.

Khuzwayo, who served as Itumeleng Khune's understudy during his time at the club, acknowledged that Chiefs previously had a less forgiving policy towards goalkeepers.

However, this approach has softened in recent years.

Khuzwayo emphasized that Chiefs should seek goalkeepers who can make an immediate impact and consistently perform at a high level.

‘CHIEFS SUPPORTERS HAVE BEEN LENIENT ON GOALKEEPERS’

“At Chiefs there was Itu (Khune) and then me. He knew that if he messes up, I'm behind him, I'm pushing him! Every good goalkeeper needs a good goalkeeper to compete with him. Chiefs supporters have been lenient in putting pressure on the goalkeepers,” said Khuzwayo on SoccerBeat YouTube Channel as quoted by Soccer Laduma.

“If you remember, there was a goalkeeper called (Kabelo) Metsimetsi, he conceded four goals, it was game over for him in terms of Chiefs. But (now) keepers (at Amakhosi) are given a chance, a chance and a chance and they are not performing as other previous goalkeepers at Chiefs.”

Khuzwayo believes that Chiefs should sign Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Ricardo Goss, currently on loan at SuperSport United from Mamelodi Sundowns.

WHICH GOALKEEPER CHIEFS MUST SIGN?

“I'd give (Bruce) Buma a chance but if you look at Sundowns, there's Ronwen (Williams) doing great, Africa's number one, Pirates, (Sipho) Chaine, doing great, what about Chiefs goalkeepers? SuperSport have (Ricardo) Goss, a good goalkeeper, l'd take him and put him at Chiefs.”
