‘Kaizer Chiefs you can’t cheat football! What the hell Petersen? Fans must stop big mouths’

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs were knocked out of the MTN8 after falling by a solitary goal to Golden Arrows on Sunday evening.

Goalkeeper Brandon Petersen was at fault for the goal Amakhosi conceded as Khulekani Shezi picked up the ball on the right wing, made a run into the box before bringing in a speculative low cross that somehow nestled into the back of the net.

It wasn’t a start Petersen, who helped the Glamour Boys finish third in the Premier Soccer League season, expected.

Have a look at the reactions from Mzansi following the Amakhosi defeat at the FNB Stadium as sampled by Afrik-Foot.

Baartman not suitable for Chiefs

Brandon Petersen, what the hell was that?  You know you’re the last man, no one behind you, and you still decide the best option is to punch it into your own net. Positioning was a disaster.  And some people actually wanted this guy in the Bafana Bafana squad – Dave Motsamai

Brandon Petersen is going back to his default mode of leaking easy goals. What was Nkosingiphile Ngcobo doing on the pitch? Wandile Duba is reverting to his default pattern of poor decision-making. These players make me sick. Their peers are going overseas; they are still playing sh*t – Chris

Luke Baartman is not a suitable player for Kaizer Chiefs; Ngcobo is too slow – Lyborn Mathebula

You can’t cheat football. This Kaizer Chiefs management is simply too stingy, yet they expect miracles. It’s going to be a long season for us, Khosi. Every season, we’re subjected to the same nonsense: no proper investment, no quality reinforcements, and somehow we’re still expected to compete – Bethuel Mathebula

The Kaizer Chiefs’ demise is not even funny anymore. Sundowns are a top team, but they will never be as big as Chiefs. As a Pirates fan, I prefer Chiefs as our challengers. It’s really sad seeing them getting worse every passing season. Not good for South African football – Makwazy

Only Chiefs didn’t wait for extra time to lose

Kaizer Chiefs are the only team that didn’t wait for extra time to lose a game last weekend – Wonder Mahlobo

Kaizer Chiefs lost because they couldn’t convert their chances in the first half. The tempo of our game was too slow, and a slow-burn tempo can cause a lapse in concentration and cramps. Why not show urgency, score, and dictate the game? – Jose United

I will never forget how Kaizer Chiefs fans would constantly tell us Petersen would save the goals that Ronwen Williams conceded in the World Cup – Black Afrikaner

As Kaizer Chiefs fans, we must stop our big mouths from talking before a game. I think that’s where the curse starts: we were saying, “we will show them how to win a game in 90 minutes” – Dominik Szoboszlai

By October, the translator will be the coach; I have seen this movie before – Tumelo Motseare
