Kaze and Ben Youssef here to stay? Kaizer Chiefs boss backs coaching duo: ‘Team is improving’

Amid the calls to Kaizer Chiefs to sack co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, the club’s hierarchy looks to be happy with their work so far.

Kaze and Ben Youssef have come under increasing scrutiny and pressure since replacing their boss Nasreddine Nabi, who left the club last September for reasons not yet known.

The two, who were serving as Nabi’s assistants, were elevated in a co-coaching capacity until the end of the season but with just four wins in 14 matches as well as eight draws and two defeats, fans are not convinced.

Most of the draws have been against mid and lower table teams in the PSL which they should have beaten, leading to accusations that the coaching duo is clueless and should be replaced by a more experienced and successful tactician.

However, Bobby Motaung seems to have ended the hopes of fans who want a change in the dugout after giving his support for Kaze and Ben Youssef by explaining why the club’s hierarchy has full trust in them.

“We do not want to disrupt the team by bringing in a new coach who would arrive wanting to do things differently from what we are currently doing,” Motaung Isolezwe.

“Coaches want to implement their own ideas and come with their own technical teams. These two gentlemen have been with the team from the beginning, and we are building on that foundation.

“We want progress, and I believe it is clear that the team is improving,” he added, stressing the need for continuity and stability at the club.

That assurance will give Kaze and Ben Youssef confidence heading into the second part of the season as they look to oversee a more consistent run of results.

Chiefs ended 2025 in fourth position on the PSL table with 24 points from 13 matches, four behind leaders Orlando Pirates, who have played 12 games.
