Chiefs told to sack ‘struggling’ Kaze and Ben Youssef – ‘They need a big coach like Pitso’

Kaizer Chiefs have been advised to send co-coaches Khalil Ben Youseef and Cedric Kaze packing and appoint a top coach if they want to experience success.

Chiefs started the season with Tunisian Nasreddine Nabi in charge but he parted ways with the club in September over unclear reasons with Amakhosi opting to promote his assistants Ben Yossef and Kaze as co-coaches until the end of the season.

However, the two have not covered themselves in glory as the club is still struggling to record wins with Sunday’s goalless draw away to TS Galaxy the fourth game in a row in which they have not won.

In the 14 matches they have taken charge, Ben Youssef and Kaze have overseen just four wins, seven ending in draws while there have been three losses.

More frustrating is that the two still have not found a formula that can help the players score goals as Chiefs keep missing clear chances that leave them drawing matches they should win.

It explains four goalless draws in that spell, including the last two against Chippa United and Galaxy, teams Chiefs should ordinarily be beating, and his assessment of the two coaches, ex-Amakhosi star Isaac Mabotsa did not hold back.

“Honestly, it’s difficult. Based on the last four games, things aren’t looking good for the co-coaches,” Mabotsa told KickOff.

“As coaches, it’s good they received a chance. It shows the club saw potential. They started well, but now they’re struggling. That’s just my opinion.

Chiefs told to go for Mosimane-like coach

“If you recall, they both joined Chiefs as Nabi’s assistants. They were promoted to head coaches because management couldn’t find a new head coach at the time.”

The former Chiefs right-back thinks it is time for the club to cut their losses on the tacticians and bring in someone in the mold of Pitso Mosimane who will lift the standards.

“I hope the Kaizer Chiefs management is currently searching for a new head coach. For example, they need a big coach like Pitso Mosimane… I’m just giving an example,” he added.

“We need someone who can elevate these players to a higher level because, right now, it’s not working. We need a high-profile coach.

Where are the co-coaches failing?

“For instance, every new signing, like [Asanele] Velebayi right now, starts with great enthusiasm. Yet, as time passes, his teammates tend to bring him down to their level. That’s why I say we need someone strict with the young players. They begin well but tend to relax over time,” he further said.

Kaze and Ben Youssef have a contract at Chiefs until the end of the current season and will only earn a stay of execution if they perform well.

Chiefs have ended the year in fourth place on the PSL standings with 24 points from 13 matches, four behind leaders Orlando Pirates, who have a game in hand, while in the CAF Confederation Cup group stages, they have one point from two matches.
