Former Kaizer Chiefs forward Khama Billiat will not be returning to South Africa in the January transfer window after signing for Zimbabwean side Scottland FC.
Billiat was a free agent after his contract with Zimbabwean club Yadah FC ended in December and has been snapped up by the league newcomers who are keen to benefit from his goals and experience.
Brilliat joins the club with his stock high after a great return to Zimbabwe which yielded 13 league goals to finish second on the top scorer’s list, four behind Golden Boot winner Lynoth Chikuhwa of Highlanders, to be named among the 2024 Soccer Star of the Year finalists.
The attacker had spent over 10 years in South Africa, first with Ajax Cape Town before a successful five-year stint at Mamelodi Sundowns after which he moved to Chiefs.
Billiat rediscovered his form in Zimbabwe
However, his stay at Chiefs was hampered by injuries and did not enjoy a great time at Naturena, Amakhosi cutting their losses when his contract expired in 2023.
Having failed to find a club in South Africa, Billiat returned home and rediscovered his best form at Yadah where he also provided 11 assists to finish the season with 24 goal involvements.
His good form saw him earn a return to the national team and played a key role in Zimbabwe’s qualification to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Billiat scored 41 goals during his five-year stay at Sundowns between 2013 and 2018, winning three PSL titles, as well as the CAF Champions League.
