Sundowns learn when Club World Cup opponents will be revealed

Mamelodi Sundowns will learn their FIFA Club World Cup opponents on December 5 when the draw for next year’s tournament will be conducted.

Sundowns are among the 32 teams who will feature in the expanded tournament set to kick off in the United States on June 15, 2025 and the draw will be conducted on December 5 in Miami.

The Brazilians will be making their maiden appearance at the tournament where they are among the African representatives alongside Rulani Mokwena’s Wydad Athletic Club and Egyptian giants Al Ahly, while European champions Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are among the 12 teams from Europe.

The draw will be conducted when all 32 representatives have been known as the last team will be either Atletico Mineiro or Botafogo who face off in an all-Brazil CONMEBOL Libertadores final in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Saturday, November 30.

FIFA recently revealed the 12 stadiums for the tournament while confirming Inter Miami as the penultimate club to qualify (as host representative) following the Herons’ record-breaking 2024 MLS regular season campaign.

The draw, to be conducted as a live studio event, will kick off at 13:00 local time (19:00 CET) and be beamed around the globe via FIFA.com, FIFA+ and supporting channels, giving way to the tournament will kick off at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Sunday, June 15, 2025.
