Mokoena not over-concerned with 2010 game vs Mexico
Reflecting on the country’s previous World Cup appearance in 2010 as Bafana prepare for the clash, the 29-year-old admitted his memories of the tournament are limited.
“I can’t remember much about the 2010 World Cup, I only remember Siphiwe Tshabalala’s goal. I was still very young then,” Mokoena told reporters.
Rather than drawing inspiration from the past, the midfielder has insisted the current generation is focused on writing their own chapter in SA football history.

“No, we haven’t spoken about the 2010 World Cup as a team, we want to create our own history.
“As you know, our country hasn’t went to the knockout stages before, so us coming to this tournament our goal is to see ourselves going to the next round.”
Williams confident of competing vs Mexico
As Bafana Bafana prepare for their World Cup opener against Mexico this evening, captain Ronwen Williams, and reflected on how the 2010 tournament hosted in South Africa has inspired him to dream big.
In conversation with Olympics .com, he said: “It gave me the belief that you can compete and be part of the big events. To see all the superstars being in our backyard, it speaks volumes, and it also gave me the sense that football will give you a lot of opportunities.
