Mamelodi Sundowns legend Hlompho Kekana feels that the Brazilians’ ability to suffocate opponents with high possession of the ball will be their main weapon against Esperance, who they face in the CAF Champions League semi-final first leg in Tunis on Sunday night.
“The only real difficulty is the crowd. But they are playing Mamelodi Sundowns. We have that pass-and-move style. They don’t like that type of game. They expect possession to shift between both teams. If you bore them with possession, they lose patience,” Kekana said on the The Pitchside podcast.

Mamelodi Sundowns forward Arthur Sales is looking forward to a game of fine margins between his team and Esperance, who they face in the CAF Champions League semi-final first leg in Tunis on Sunday night.
“Yeah, both teams have quality – it’s difficult, the game comes down to details, there are more things [to stay focused on], so you must keep the concentration high,” Sales said as per SABC.
“I think this will decide the game – I think Esperance is a good team but we also have quality on our side, so the game is [going to be played] at a high level.”

Tunisian giants Esperance have issued a caution to their supporters to ensure they are on their best behaviour when they face Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday.
Ugly incidents were witnessed between the two teams at Loftus Versfeld last season with blows and kicks among both sets of supporters, leading to sanctions and the four-time African champions are keen to avoid that.
“We urge our supporters who will be attending Hamadi Al-Aqrabi Brads Stadium tomorrow for our encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns to avoid all overpasses, refrain from lighting up dates or throwing shots, as such penalties may deny our team the presence of its fans in the forthcoming matches and certainly affect our luck in the competition,” the club’s statement read in part.
