Latest news about Mamelodi Sundowns in the last 24 hours, including a warning to the club about the goalkeeping department as a striker undergoes medical in Belgium.
Sundowns urged to act before suffering goalkeeping crisis
Former Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Calvin Marlin has allayed fears that the Brazilians could face a goalkeeping crisis due to their ageing men between the sticks.
“These days, goalkeepers go for a lot longer than before, and you can see the Sundowns guys still going strong at their ages. All their keepers have some good experience,” Marlin told FARPost.
“Chances of Sundowns playing a younger keeper are slim unless there is an exceptional one like the young Itumeleng Khune or that Ronwen Williams of the old days. That’s why this thing of looking for long-term goalkeepers is not a big issue.

“Sundowns might be looking for a 23-year-old, but young keepers at Sundowns will keep on being loaned out season after season. Playing in the [CAF] Champions League will always require Sundowns to have experienced goalkeepers.”
Sundowns youngster assessed in Belgium
Mamelodi Sundowns development striker Angus Moss is currently undergoing an assessment at Belgian Pro League side KAA Gent.
“Angus was invited for a two week assessment, he still has one week to go,” his agent Rasthoem Simons of 5sSports told iDiski Times.

“Nicknamed ‘Haaland’ for his notably frame – Moss was among the stars of the recent Bayhill Premier Cup for Sundowns and has been in prolific form in the development ranks since his arrival.”
Cardoso on why Sundowns couldn’t play Galaxy next week
Miguel Cardoso has shot down the suggestion that Mamelodi Sundowns could have played their final Betway Premiership fixture against TS Galaxy in the window between the two legs of their CAF Champions League final against AS FAR.
“No, that would be absolutely impossible. With the travel to North Africa, how would you make it? We could do it if we had two teams or one [squad] playing here and the other travelling – it’s impossible [for us],” he said as quoted by iDiski Times.

“Of course, it was the possibility we were given — even for you to understand when we came from Espérance, we could not fly in the night. There was no slot to fly in the night, we had to fly in the morning. But we were told if we flew in the night, we’d have to play after two days – just for you to understand how we’re dealing with reality here.”
