Latest news about Mamelodi Sundowns in the last 24 hours, including Miguel Cardoso insisting the calendar beat Masandawana, Bernard Parker claiming TS Galaxy had a psychological advantage, and more.
‘Football has no answers but solutions’
TS Galaxy interim coach Bernard Parker believes Mamelodi Sundowns being under pressure to win worked to their advantage at Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The Rockets put up a gallant fight and secured a 3-2 win, which was the first since Parker took over on interim basis last month.
“Thank you, as I said in the pre-match interview because of the psychological factor we have over them. At the same time, they were more under pressure by them having to score a lot of goals and having to win the match and it was also good for them to win the match going to play the Champions League final – wish them all the best for the Champions League final,” Parker told SuperSport TV.
“But as we say in football we don’t have answers but solutions and we came up with a solution in terms of us being disciplined, taking the responsibility and at the same time having the unity especially in our defending and just hit them on the counter-attack because we have been practising on how they keep a high-line and for us just to make sure we attack the space behind with the young man Mahlambi.

“He has been so far our dangerous player for the last couple of games so why not get the ball early to him, create one-v-one in the two previous games he got us a penalty and again today so the game-plan was spot-on in terms of us playing to our strengths,” Parker added.
Calendar beat Sundowns
Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has opened about the obstacles his face side faced in the second half of the Betway Premiership season.
“I just want to tell them if we had won [on Tuesday night] we would have scored the number of points that would take us in one of the three best-ever campaigns on the club so I was really expecting to arrive at the end of the match win the match and be able to tell them that we eventually in the maximum would not be champions in the same points of the champion, let’s see what’s going to happen. It’s tough because I really wanted to be on that position,” Cardoso told SuperSport TV.
“But as I said before and I repeat it was the calendar that beat us because we made eleven victories in a row since January and after we played Esperance, we drew twice in these seven matches that we lost today so it’s important that the fans look with honesty on the work of the boys.

“They can criticise coach it’s not a problem for me. I have big shoulders, but I know the fans will be on our side over the weekend that’s what we need for them to be on our side. These boys have been working all season very hard.
“We lost two times on penalties on two cups and we lost the Nedbank Cup on a match that we had to change players otherwise we would probably not be in the final of the Champions League so it’s hard, very hard for them I completely understand. But look at the big picture and let’s make a proper analysis when we finish everything.”
