What Mudau did before CAF Champions League final!

Mamelodi Sundowns senior coach Steve Komphela has revealed what right-back Khuliso Mudau did before the side’s CAF Champions League triumph.

Mudau, 31, has been hailed one of the best right-backs in the country and on the continent. He was instrumental in Sundowns clinching their second African title last term in a season Sundowns relinquished their domestic title.

The coach further revealed that Mudau in the midst of a challenging season asked him to remind the group of the stakes in the continental inter-club tournament.

“In the week leading up to the CAF Champions League, we were entangled in a mirage of emotions as we were campaigning in the domestic league and the results were not coming,” Komphela told iDiski Times.

“The mood collapsed in the camp, and he came to me after one training session and asked me to make the rest of the squad aware of what was at stake.

“He asked me, ‘I don’t know if you made these guys aware of the significance of the match we are going to play, it is a 100 million rand match’.

“He sees things at the elite level in terms of what has to be achieved; he’s got a different vision to most players.”

Sundowns postpone trip to Austria after Adams’ passing

Mamelodi Sundowns have postponed their departure to Austria for pre-season following the tragic passing of midfielder Jayden Adams.

“Given the circumstances, the team did not travel to Austria yesterday. As it stands, the pre-season has not been cancelled but the departure has been postponed.”

Mokwena to Pyramids?

Egyptian side Pyramids have set their sights in signing former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena.

The South African coach is reported to have parted ways with Libyan side Al Ittihad SC after only spending a few months with the club.

According to sources in Egypt, Rhulani Mokwena has left Libya for Cairo with the possibility of joining Pyramids.

“There has been contact. Both parties are talking. There is a possibility that Mokwena could move to Pyramids very soon “, Kickoff revealed.

Mokwena could join Pitso Mosimane amongst local coaches to have coached in Egypt. Mosimane made history after winning back to back CAF Champions League titles with Al Ahly.

Why did Mngqithi choose Tanzania?

Coach Manqoba Mngqithi has revealed why he decided to join Tanzanian Premier League champions Young Africans.

The South African says that allure of CAF Champions League football is one of the reasons he joined the ambitous Tanzanian outfit.

“It’s always exciting,” Mngqithi said on SABC Sport.

“I just wanted to be back into the Champions League space and see what can happen and an ambitious club that is willing to try and bring some players to make sure that we can achieve our objectives.

“Very professional setup that is very encouraging for me.
