Latest Mamelodi Sundowns news as Cassius Mailula’s agent opens up on transfer blunder and Masandawana’s Champions League rivals wish Khuliso Mudau a speedy recovery.
Mailula’s agent admits mistakes in MLS move
Cassius Mailula’s return to Mamelodi Sundowns is being lauded as the forward has netted three goals in four games but his departure in July 2023 has always divided opinion.

At the time, the 25-year-old had just had a breakout season at Sundowns and them sealed a move to MLS side Toronto FC only to find the going tough as he was not offered opportunities to play, ultimately leading to loan moves to Wydad AC in Morocco and Kortrijk in Belgium before returning to Sundowns last month.
His agent Karabo Mathang-Tshabuse of PManagement Agency admits the player may have rushed a transfer to the MLS without doing their due diligence.
“In Toronto, the recruiting department wanted him but it did not translate into the coaching department. And sometimes, that even happens locally, and I think there was a little bit of that struggle,” Mathang-Tshabuse said on Metro FM.
“A little bit of his temperament, he is short and he plays differently. He is the man you will find in the box to tap in and in Toronto, it was a little bit like from the defence line all the way to the final third, you need to be running in and out of that.
“And I think that maybe, we were too quick to sign up because the technical teams said; ‘he is our number one’ without engineering it in such a way that he could be loaned and come back and maybe that is what we should have done.”
Sundowns CAF CL rivals comment on Mudau’s injury
Sudanese side Al-Hilal have put their rivalry with Sundowns aside and wished defender Khuliso Mudau a quick recovery following his nasty injury on Wednesday.

Mudau will be out for six months following an Achilles rapture during Sundowns’ 2-0 win over Marumo Gallants and as he awaits surgery on Monday before beginning his recovery, Al-Hilal are among those hoping to see him back soon.
“Mudau has always been one of Sundowns’ standout players and a fierce competitor against Al-Hilal in the many encounters between the two clubs over the years. Football is about competition on the pitch, but the health and well-being of players always come first. Get well soon, Mudau,” the club stated.
Sundowns and Al-Hilal have clashed over the years in the CAF Champions League, including last season, when they faced off at the group stage, with the Sudanese giants drawing in South Africa before winning away, as they went on to top the group although Miguel Cardoso’s side would go on to win the title.
