Aubrey Modiba has revealed a fresh new look after marking his birthday with an unusual gift to himself.

The Sundowns and Bafana Bafana star underwent a smile makeover that closed the trademark gap between his front teeth, as reported by Soccer Laduma.

The versatile left-sided player turned 31 on July 22 and spent the day at a veneer clinic in Woodmead, Johannesburg, where he had the cosmetic dental work done ahead of another demanding season for club and country.

The practice shared a series of close-up images of the finished result on Instagram, describing Modiba as a national treasure and noting that first impressions are worth investing in.

Modiba has long been known as much for that gap-toothed grin as for his marauding runs down the left, which is precisely why the change was spotted so quickly by supporters on social media.

With pre-season already under way, the Bafana international heads into the new campaign with a new smile to go with it.
