Brilliant Khuzwayo has given his verdict on the Betway Premiership title race as Orlando Pirates battle it out with Mamelodi Sundowns for glory, revealing what he feels is the best-case scenario for the two contenders.

 “I would love to see Orlando Pirates win it all – they’ve been waiting since the 2011/2012 season, when they last took home the PSL title. It would be amazing to see them lift the trophy again. They deserve it,” he told FARPost.

“That being said, Mamelodi Sundowns has been dominating the PSL for the past eight seasons, and a ninth consecutive title would be a remarkable achievement.

“But, you know, Sundowns has been dominating the PSL, but this year is going to be close to a decade if they take the league, and honestly, it’s going to be a beautiful stor,” Khuzwayo concluded.

Former Orlando Pirates defender Benson Mhlongo has explained how Sunday’s Soweto Derby result had a significant impact on the ongoing Betway Premiership title race.

“The derby did affect the league race big time. Pirates has given Sundowns a huge chance, even though games that are not yet played do not guarantee points,” notes Mhlongo, speaking to KickOff.

“Are the moment, the advantage is still with Pirates, even though they still rely on the opposition to stop Sundowns, which is the sad part.

“As we all know, the Soweto Derby is a different game altogether. It cancels everything. On its own, the derby carries its own pressure. So, from both teams, not many players have played in the derby, and those who’ve played more than three matches aren’t many.

“They are still new to the Soweto Derby.

“Playing the derby does affect the nerves, and Kaizer Chiefs always rise to the occasion when playing the derby because of the bragging rights.
