Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has hailed the importance of midfielder Teboho Mokoena at the club after he delivered a Man of the Match performance against Polokwane City.
Mokoena created two goals and was central to Sundowns’ 3-0 victory on Sunday with his performance in midfield sending the Brazilians five points clear at the top of the table and his coach is in awe of his qualities.
“He is a pillar, very important asset for the club and the team,” Cardoso told SuperSport TV as per Soccer Laduma.
“He is a player we understand where he stands, we manage him according to what he needs and we give love to everybody but also give love to him of course.”

Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso is delighted to have playmaker Nuno Santos and striker Bryan Leon back as his team fights for the PSL and CAF Champions League.
Sundowns had struggled to score in their three previous games before beating Polokwane City 3-0 on Sunday with Leon and Santos combining for the third goal.
Cardoso feels the duo’s return can lift them in the final weeks of the season, starting with Wednesday’s match against Kaizer Chiefs, as they look to fend off Orlando Pirates in the title race.
“He has done very well, it’s good to have Brayan back and Nuno. Look, we coaches can do a great job but who does the great job it’s the players and the more availability of quality you have the best coach you are,” he said.
Mamelodi Sundowns ‘very bad’ hosts
Polokwane City coach Phuti Mohafe has lamented the lack of mercy shown to his team by Sundowns during their loss on Sunday.
“That was a very bad reception from the hosts. They were not so human today and not good at all. You cannot treat your visitors like,” Mohafe joked after the match before blaming his players for making many mistakes.
“The decisions that we made were bad but we learned from them and I think we had a better first half defensively even though we conceded from a poor goal, not marking well in the box and in the second half.”
