Former Orlando Pirates star Mark Mayambela has expressed his worry over the large number of games played by Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana midfielder Teboho Mokoena who has been ever-present for the national team and his club and is set to feature prominently at the World Cup.
“I’m a bit worried about Tebza, of course, with the amount of games he has played since the [2025 FIFA] Club World Cup. I don’t think he had more rest,” said Mayambela on Izinja ZeGame with Josta Dladla as quoted by FARPost.
“And in December, he was in the AFCON squad, and now he has just finished playing the Champions League. I watch him; he has a big heart, and he is a soldier as well.
“The intensity of the game today is not the same as before. The intensity of the game has become more explosive. I was looking at statistics when Sundowns played the [Champions League] final against Pyramids FC. They [Sundowns] encountered 266 pressing moments.”

“The coach came to me and told me that at the end of the season, he would need me the most,” the youngster told Thabiso Mosia on Radio 2000 as per iDiski Times.
“He told me I mustn’t look down on the DDC games and being on the stands. I just kept my attitude [positive] and I continued to work hard.”
Has Cardoso dropped hint to Mamelodi Sundowns?

Cardoso worked at Esperance before joining Sundowns and has been linked to Al Ahly in recent weeks.
“They are absolutely different, and I enjoyed my time up there. I have to confess that I like the aggressive side of the game itself. I like being under pressure and dealing with the intensity that is placed on everyone involved,” he said, according Sportswire.
“But I also love the affection you receive from the first minute to the last when you are in South Africa with our fans.”
