Ndlovu explains how Pirates move fell apart

Mamelodi Sundowns winger Siyanda Ndlovu has finally addressed the confusion surrounding his move to Chloorkop after he had appeared to be on the verge of joining Orlando Pirates instead.

The 23-year-old travelled to Johannesburg believing he was set to complete a switch to the Buccaneers, only for the process to drag on for several days without resolution.

He was then instructed by his former club, Golden Arrows, to report to Sundowns instead, with Ndlovu admitting he still isn’t entirely sure how the situation changed.

“I won’t tell you but what happened is my boss at Golden Arrows told me that we’re going to sign with Sundowns now. But I don’t know what happened,” Ndlovu told Victor Molefe on Ukhozi FM, as quoted by iDiski Times.

“I came here Wednesday and the time went on until Monday with things uncertain, and then I ended up at Sundowns. I didn’t have a problem with what happened because I wanted to play for one of the big three clubs.”

Sundowns bring in Brazilian fitness specialist Missena

Mamelodi Sundowns have strengthened their technical department with the appointment of Brazilian fitness coach Diogo Missena Perpetuo.

The 40-year-old arrives at Chloorkop from Brazilian top-flight side Esporte Clube Bahia, where he worked in the senior team’s performance department under Rogerio Ceni.

Missena already got to work this week, overseeing the players who stayed behind in Pretoria while the rest of the squad travelled to Durban for the Betway Premiership clash with Golden Arrows.

His exact title at the club has not yet been confirmed, but he steps into the role vacated by Dane Mathias Zangenberg, who left Sundowns at the end of last season and has since joined Brondby.

The Brazilian brings over a decade of experience in professional football, having started his coaching career at Botafogo’s academy in 2014 before working his way up to the first-team conditioning staff. He moved to Bahia in 2024 and was part of the technical staff when the club won a fifth Copa do Nordeste title last season.
