Kaizer Chiefs have named their 22-man squad to play AS Simba on Saturday in the first leg of the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Glamour Boys made it to the next phase after getting past Kabuscorp in the previous hurdle of the annual competition. The Soweto giants have now confirmed their arsenal to do the job at the TP Mazembe Stadium in Lubumbashi this weekend.
Interestingly, Amakhosi have the likes of Asanele Velebayi, Luke Baartman, Etiosa Ighodaro, Lebohang Maboe, and Khanyisa Mayo ready for the game.
Velebayi and Baartman have been waiting for clearance following their unceremonious exit from Cape Town Spurs, while Ighodaro and Maboe missed action as they were working on match fitness after the injuries they had suffered.
Who has made the Chiefs squad?
While Maboe, who has been nursing an injury, has been included in the squad, and Mayo is set to make his debut in the competition, Velebayi, Baartman, and Ighodaro have not been included.
Bafana Bafana international Thabiso Monyane is also missing from the travelling party indicating he is not fit enough to resume his duty at right-back. However, Mfundo Vilakazi, who shone while with South Africa's U20 squad, Amajita, in the U20 FIFA World Cup, has been included in the team.
