A Major League Soccer club FC Cincinnati has completed the signing of former Kaizer Chiefs defender Teenage Hadebe to strengthen its defence department.

The 28-year-old centre-back joins the North American club after parting ways with the Turkish club Konyaspor where he featured in 11 matches in the Turkish Süper Lig during the 2023/24 season.

“We’d like to welcome Teenage and his family to Cincinnati,” said the club’s General Manager Chris Albright.

“His MLS and international experience, as well as his skillset and defensive quality, will make him a strong addition to our group. We are excited to have him join the club.”

Hadebe is no stranger to MLS having played for Houston Dynamo FC between 2021 and 2023 where he rattled in three goals and registered one assist in 56 matches that he played.

The native of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe expressed his delight for having joined Cincinnati saying he is looking forward to getting into action.

DEFENDER’S FIRST WORDS AFTER JOINING NEW MLS CLUB

“I’m so happy to join FC Cincinnati,” said Hadebe. “I’m excited to join up with the team and meet the fans at TQL stadium soon. I look forward to giving my all to fight for this club as we look to achieve our goals this season.”

Before his tenure with Houston, the left-footed center back played for Yeni Malatyaspor in the Turkish Süper Lig where he featured in 60 games.

Hadebe was recognised with Süper Lig Team of the Season accolades after his inaugural year with the team and received Süper Lig Team of the Week distinctions on five occasions during the 2020/2021 season.

Additionally, he represented the club in the UEFA Europa League, competing against the Slovenian team Olumpija in a qualifying match in 2019.

He played for Chiefs between 2017 and 2019 before he made a move to Turkey.
