Golden Arrows coach Manqoba Mngqithi has spoken highly of the departing Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro.
The ‘Spanish guitar’ was on the bench for the last time on Tuesday in a match against Abafana Bes’thende, securing a 3-0 victory for Ezimnyama Ngenkani in the Betway Premiership match.
Riveiro is reportedly set to join Al Ahly this week after ending a successful three-year stint with the Sea Robbers where they won five trophies – three MTN8 titles and two Nedbank Cups.
Mngqithi has heaped praise on the 49-year-old tactician, saying the Spanish mentor did “exceptionally well” during his time with the Soweto giants.

MNGQITHI ON JOSE RIVEIRO’S PIRATES STINT
“We must say congratulations coach Jose for his stay at Pirates, I think he did exceptionally well, he got so many trophies for the club, I think it’s five – it was very good [for the club],” said Mngqithi.
With four matches remaining in the league this season, the assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi will be in charge, assisted by the rest of the technical team.
Meanwhile, Mngqithi was also asked about the reported dismissal of Arrows duo Thabani Zuke and Knox Mutizwa.
According to FARPost, the insiders suggested that Zuke was reportedly let go after the club believed he had signed a pre-contract agreement with cross-city rivals AmaZulu FC.
Insiders added that Mutizwa's departure was due to “below par performances” and other unspecificied reasons.
“As for the decisions of the team, we always prefer to keep our dirty linen in the house,” added Mngqithi.
