Mamelodi Sundowns will be without midfielder Rivaldo Coetzee for at least four weeks after he suffered an injury last week.
Coetzee played six minutes of Sundowns’ 3-0 win over Cape Town City on October 30 but suffered a nasty injury and his coach Manqoba Mngqithi has now confirmed that he will be out for some time.
“Riva’s one is a serious injury probably four weeks out if not more, ACL,” said Mngqithi as quoted by iDiski Times.
“He has to go for the operation I think this coming week but it’s a bad one. I hope he will come back when we need him the most in the later stages of the season.”
How will Sundowns cope with growing injury list?
It is yet another blow for the versatile midfielder who has been unlucky with injuries in recent months.
Coetzee has been enjoying a good run of games for Sundowns, having featured in eight matches across all competitions, before the setback and he adds onto the growing injury list at the club.
Already Themba Zwane is a long-term absentee while Tashreeq Matthews is also out with an injury.
With the PSL, Carling Knockout, CAF Champions League and Nedbank Cup to contest, Sundowns are getting stretched to the limit early in the season and Mngqithi will be hoping there are no fresh injury concerns.
