Mngqithi reveals Sundowns’ technical team adjustments

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has confirmed the changes to his team's technical staff.

Mngqithi told the media that the club's assistant goalkeeper coach, Kennedy Mweene, had been added to the bench temporarily.

This is because Wendell Robinson, the main keeper coach, has taken on an assistant coaching role while Romain Folz is away on a coaching course.

Mweene was on the bench for Sundowns' final two games against Maniema Union and Sekhukhune United.

WHY KENNEDY MWEENE HAS BEEN ON SUNDOWNS BENCH RECENTLY

“He has always been an assistant coach, but he is also a goalkeeper coach,” explained Mnggithi,” said Mngqithi.

“He has always been. Remember that this time around, we didn't have Romain on the bench because he is doing his coaching course.

“So, in terms of the number of the people you can have on the bench, now we had a gap to add another one on the bench because normally Kennedy Mweene is not on the bench. So, because Romain is not there, it was a natural movement.

“But for him to be an assistant coach, he has always played that role since coach Pitso's [Mosimane] time. He has always been amongst the coaches. He is a qualified coach, by the way. It's not that we trying to push him.”
