Mohau Nkota: When will he feature for Pirates? Latest injury update

Mohau Nkota made a shock return to Orlando Pirates in the ongoing Premier Soccer League transfer window.

The South Africa international left the Soweto giants at the beginning of the 2025/26 season after excelling in his debut campaign with the senior team. While with the Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ettifaq, the 21-year-old made 22 appearances across all competitions, with a return of two goals and three assists.

Nkota suffered an injury that saw him miss the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Bafana Bafana.

In his bid to get back his fitness, the versatile attacker returned to Mzansi where he was reunited with the PSL champions. He was signed, albeit on loan, alongside Mthetheleli Mthiyane (Stellenbosch FC), Sbangani Zulu (Richards Bay), Bohale Ngwato (Siwelele) Ghampani Lungu (Siwelele), Neo Rapoo (Siwelele), Aphiwe Baliti (Siwelele) & Matome Mmolai (Leicesterford City), and Sebastian Pedersen (Sogndal Fotball, Norway).

Latest on Nkota’s injury

Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has now revealed that Nkota is almost good to go, and in a month, he will be back with the senior team.

“Nkota is still with the doctors, undergoing treatment. I think he had an injury with his previous club, but I hope to have him in three or four weeks,” the former Fulham defender told the media.

During his initial stint with the Soweto giants, Nkota played 39 games in all competitions where he found the back of the net seven times, with five assists to his name.

Nkota will surely hope to get back to his best and win the trust of new Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane.
