Orlando Pirates have ended the year on top of the Premier Soccer League table owing to their exemplary performance.
The Soweto giants have played 12 games so far with nine wins, two losses and s draw which has given them 28 points, two less than the defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns who are second with two points less.
According to Bucs former midfielder William Mokoena is impressed with the players the Buccaneers have, insisting they are of top quality who can’t finish the season without winning any title.
So far, the Buccaneers have won MTN8 and the Carling Knockout in the few months the tactician has been with Pirates. He further won the Carling Black Label Cup recently, and Mokoena sees no reason why Bucs can’t go all the way in the PSL race.
Pirates can win the PSL title
“This new coach [Abdeslam Ouaddou] came to the party, there are a lot of changes, fitness-wise,” he told Soccer Beat.
Pirates are not playing like last season. They are more fit now. You can see even [Oswin Appollis] is running up and down, a box-to-box player. You can see Pirates’ game, their tempo is too high.
“It was going to be a joke if Pirates didn’t win anything this season. I don’t want to lie. With the squad they have, there are no excuses,” Mokoena continued.

“They have to win the league. They have to focus on taking the league. It has been way too long now. We have to come up with something.
“I will be very happy for the coach to continue winning trophies.
“Remember when he arrived, most people questioned the appointment. Now they have seen the coach. Everything looks balanced. I don’t see any changes coming. If it is not broken, don’t fix it,” he concluded.
