Morris injury blow: For how long will the Chiefs striker miss action?

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has conceded the injury suffered by his striker Tashreeq Morris affected his plan against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Since joining the Glamour Boys from SuperSport United in January, Morris has been a regular for the Soweto giants. On Saturday, he lasted just 26 minutes in the Premier Soccer League game against Masandawana who eventually won the game by a solitary goal.

Ashley du Preez was introduced in the place of the forward but was also later replaced by Ranga Chivaviro.

Nabi has now revealed how long the 31-year-old will be out of action. He has further stated why he prefers to play him as his focal point.

‘Morris is a good presser, someone who finishes crosses in the box'

“He’s out maybe six, seven days. I would say that it hurt us a lot because it’s a striker that can give you a lot of things,” he stated.

He’s a good presser. He doesn’t give a lot of rest to the defenders. But after, when he came out, we saw that even the centre-backs were a little bit comfortable with the ball all the time. He’s also in a nine classic that can give you, when you need you can play on him, he’s going to hold the ball, and he’s going to give your team the time to go up to take positions to attack.

“And as well, he’s a player that, when you make all those crosses that were coming inside the box, he is someone who can finish it and who has a big presence, and it impacted a lot the plan of the game today,” Nabi concluded.

On Tuesday, Amakhosi will be playing Magesi FC in another Premier Soccer League outing at the FNB Stadium.
