Kaizer Chiefs sporting director, Kaizer Motaung Jr, has addressed speculation regarding Arthur Zwane's potential return to the senior team as an assistant coach to Nasreddine Nabi.
The rumours started after the exit of Fernando Da Cruz who shockingly left the club to take up a role in the Moroccan Football Federation.
Da Cruz's tenure at Naturena lasted only three months, having joined the club in June.
Zwane previously served as the head coach for Amakhosi during the 2022/23 season. He was demoted at the end of that campaign as he couldn’t help the situation with Chiefs continuing to struggle.
He was recently appointed as the senior coach of the development, where he is responsible for overseeing all age groups and ensuring alignment with the club's philosophy.
Motaung insisted there was no truth in the rumours linking Zwane to assistant coach position, emphasising that Zwane, known as ‘10111', will remain focused on the development project he has initiated.
MOTAUNG JR ON ARTHUR ZWANE’S LINKS WITH ASSISTANT COACH ROLE
“No, he doesn’t,” he said during the Marawa Sports Worldwide on Radio 947.
“I think sometimes that’s the challenge, because we’re not sitting here with you, answering the questions.
“Also for us, when someone says something on social media, the way it’s being picked up and run with it, it also causes unnecessary energy around the team.
“But with coach Arthur, no. Coach Arthur is our Senior Academy Coach, he is there at the academy side. I think they project and the programme they’ve put together is well underway.
“There was no truth to that at all.”
