South Africa went top of Group K in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with a well-deserved 2-0 win against Uganda on Friday at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Kampala.
Second-half goals from Thapelo Morena and Patrick Maswanganyi did the job for Bafana Bafana in front of thousands of home fans who had filled the stadium.
The win means the Hugo Broos-led team are on 11 points, one more than Cranes who will be playing Congo away in their final pool game, as Bafana tackles South Sudan in Mzansi on Tuesday.
Have a look at what South Africans said after the win.
Uganda were fooled by Mothwa
It's crazy how Bafana Bafana players are so united, and then there's us, fans, the way that we are so divided speaks volumes about how black people don't support one another. Anyway, I'm happy that Tito scored his first goal, that will boost his confidence. Also not forgetting Rayners's supply, what a pass – Lutho Ndala
Big up to the boys, Uganda got fooled by those two goals Veli Mothwa gifted them and thought we are equals with them. No! We are a moving train that bleakness everything that stands in its way – Reuben Rudboy Sefafe
Great performance by our boys; clean sheet away from home. The team has grown and they know how to get results under difficult conditions – Skhumbuzo Mambush Ndwandwe
Playing Bafana Bafana at Nelson Mandela Stadium was their downfall – Vuyisa Debeza Luntinto
What a good display of soccer by our boys away from home. They were fearless and very calm in a packed Mandela Stadium. Big ups to our players and the entire coaching staff – Kanelo Matiea
Nothing special about Uganda
These days we qualify for tournaments, we don't use calculators, we don't dance for nothing, and our keeper doesn't lie on the ground saying he is wasting time. We simply play beautiful football and smash everyone – Promise Malape Mohlala
Let us give credit to Uganda for a better welcoming and a good stadium. They did not make us sleep at the airport or make us arrive at the wrong place. Thanks, Pearl of Africa, with your mindset, Africa is going somewhere – LerAto Cedrik
Talk about team chemistry! It's good to see Pirates, Sundowns, Chiefs, Polokwane City, and all the other teams' players uniting and fighting for one badge. What a time to be alive – Bright Deep – WamaThongo
Man of the Match was the referee, he understood that football is a contact sport and the game was flowing – Archie Nhlapo
Nothing special about Uganda, they're just powerful road runners who had better shots on target in these qualifiers. Congo are playing far better than these Cranes. Yes, that's my opinion – Siphosethu Gift Guzu
