Nabi gives Chiefs injury update ahead of Nedbank Cup Chippa clash

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has provided an injury update ahead of their Nedbank Cup Last 16 match against Chippa United this Saturday.

Nabi indicated that Chiefs will be without a significant number of first-team players due to both suspensions and injuries.

With the Nedbank Cup representing their best opportunity to end a decade-long trophy drought, Chiefs are determined to progress in the competition following their earlier Carling Knockout Cup elimination.

However, their ambitions are hampered by the suspension of Yusuf Maart for the FNB Stadium fixture, and injuries impacting influential players such as midfielder Sibongiseni “Ox” Mthethwa.

CHIEFS TO MISS KEY PLAYERS IN NEDBANK CUP CHIPPA CLASH

“For Saturday game unfortunately our captain Yusuf Maart is suspended,” said Nabi at his pre-match press conference.

“Ox is still injured, he will not be part of the game. George Matlou has been training this week, him, [Dillan] Solomons and Dove [Edmilson], too.

“But we feel that Dove and Solomons they need more time training and friendly games to get used to the tempo to get themselves fit.

“But everyone else [is fit], [Wandile] Duba is still out and Ashley du Preez is still out.”
