Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi wants to see more confidence from captain Yusuf Maart whose performances have improved in their last two matches.
Maart was the Man of the Match as Chiefs beat Richards Bay 2-1 last Wednesday, having assisted both goals, and should have got a on the scoresheet himself were it not for some poor finishing. He also set up another in their 2-2 draw with Magesi FC at the weekend.
The midfielder is now playing with some swagger, something that was not witnessed earlier in the season, and his coach says this was due to the attacks he was receiving from fans on social media but believes he is now hitting top form with more expected as he grows in confidence.
“It’s a problem of confidence for himself,” Nabi told iDiski Times.
Can Maart sustain the impressive form?
“Yusuf sometimes receives too many attacks [on social media]. It’s difficult, mentally it’s difficult.
“Last game and on Saturday, was not too bad. Last game he gave an excellent performance, Saturday he gave a good performance. I want more confidence for himself and he will continue to progress,” added Nabi.
Maart has primarily been known for his defensive work in front of the back four but he is now making forward runs while his range of passing has improved, linking up well with the attackers, and Chiefs are reaping the benefits.
The midfielder also seems to be enjoying playing alongside Sibongiseni “Ox” Mthethwa who is giving him the freedom to bomb forward and Chiefs fans will be hoping for more of the same when they take on Polokwane City in their next PSL game on Sunday December 8.
