Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has lauded Mamelodi Sundowns star Lucas Ribeiro for the quality and impact he is having at the club.
The Brazilian was signed by Masandawana at the beginning of the 2023/24 season and has since been a hit in the Premier Soccer League. On Saturday, he scored the lone goal as the defending champions beat the Glamour Boys by a solitary goal.
The 26-year-old controlled a great pass from Iqraam Rayners which set him up for a beauty that gave Bruce Bvuma, in the Amakhosi goal, no chance to make a save. It was his 12th strike in the ongoing campaign.
Nabi wishes he could have a player like Ribeiro, insisting the PSL should have players like those to add value to South African football.
‘Riveiro and the likes make PSL more attractive to the sponsors'
“It’s true that Lucas Ribeiro is a player that every coach would dream to have in his team because he is a difference maker,” the Tunisian told the media.
“It’s good for the league as well to have those kinds of foreign players, because it allows the league as well to be more attractive to the sponsors and people who are watching [the PSL].

“And besides being a very good player, he is a very good human being, a very nice human being.”
The Chiefs' loss last weekend means they are risking finishing outside the top eight once again. They have collected 25 points from the 19 games played in the ongoing campaign which is not what the fans anticipated at the start of the season.
