Nabi satisfied with Chiefs! Comments on Miguel’s missed penalty & weakness

Kaizer Chiefs lost the Toyota Cup for the second year in a row following the recent loss to Asante Kotoko on Saturday afternoon at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

Last year, the Glamour Boys fell 4-0 against Tanzanian heavyweights Young Africans SC, explaining why they needed to bounce back against the Porcupine Warriors. However, after a goalless draw in regulation time, with Miguel Cardoso missing an 85th-minute penalty, the West African outfit claimed a 3-2 victory in the shootout.

It means the Soweto giants have now managed a win, a draw, and four losses – in regulation time, from the six pre-season games played this month.

In his post-match interview, coach Nasreddine Nabi was delighted with the display by the Glamour Boys despite the unfortunate loss.

‘Chiefs are in the right direction'

“I think it was a game that was very instructive; with the performance, we came with a lot of answers with what we have been working on and what we need to do going forward, it was a positive performance overall,” he told the media.

“We had the opportunity to win the game, but during the game, we missed it. We had the opportunity to win the game on penalties, but we missed it; unfortunately, we wanted to finish by offering our supporters the victory and finish the day with joy. But unfortunately, on penalties, it can be unpredictable.

“The support was very positive, we’re going in the right direction from the physical side, but we need; we’re in the last week of pre-season, we know the negative points, for this game was very important for us to see that.

“Where the problems are, where the quality is, and we’ll push to improve the quality and correct the negatives. But I have satisfaction with some points today,” Nabi concluded.
