Nabi – Why Cele and Miguel didn’t play in the Soweto derby

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has been explained why Thabo Cele and Inacio Miguel didn’t play in the Soweto Derby.

Amakhosi suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Buccaneers in the Betway Premiership clash at the FNB Stadium in Soweto.

Amakhosi went ahead in the first half courtesy of Glody Lilepo, but the Buccaneers responded through Evidence Makgopa.

Ultimately, it was Relebohile Mofokeng who secured the three points for Ezimnyama Ngenkani with a second-half strike.

While they were both on the bench, Nabi explained that the duo was not 100% ready to start the match as they were coming from injuries.

NABI SAYS BOTH CELE & MIGUEL WERE NOT 100% READY

“Cele is coming from an injury, and he hasn’t fully trained, and that why he was not starting, not being fully fit to start the game, or to play 90 minutes,” Nabi explained as quoted by iDiski Times.

“Inacio, the same thing, he’s coming from an injury, and he wasn’t fully fit to give 100% performance.”

Reflecting on the game, Nabi stated that it was a match of fine margins and, in his assessment, Kaizer Chiefs' performance warranted at least a point.

‘WE SHOULDN’T HAVE LOST’

“Unfortunately, it’s a game we felt we shouldn’t have lost looking at the performances of the two teams,” he explained.

“We started the game very well and feel we had the chance to kill the game, but unfortunately we did not take the opportunity to kill the game in our best moments.

“Either the referee didn’t gives is our right, we feel we should have had a penalty at 1-0 and we conceded goals whilst we were in possession of the ball and had technical mistakes, leading to conceding.

“We need to kill game in our best moments and the confidence of our opponents.”
