Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs have not been solid, as expected, under coach Nasreddine Nabi.
The Glamour Boys have gone nine seasons without silverware, and the introduction of the Tunisian tactician was meant to help them turn a corner. In the Premier Soccer League, Chiefs have played nine games; they have registered three wins, three draws and as many losses.
Amakhosi faithful anticipated their team to deliver in the Carling Knockout but they were eliminated in the quarter-final by Mamelodi Sundowns and Magesi FC went on to win the annual competition.
Former Glamour Boys winger Junior Khanye has faulted Nabi's style, insisting it was like Ernst Middendorp. He argues that is not what Chiefs are used to and it will not pay dividends.
Nabi is a typical North African coach

“The new coach is more or less like Ernst Middendorp with too many long balls and that’s not how Chiefs is supposed to play,” Khanye told iDiski Times.
“If they were losing whilst they were playing well, we’d have hope. I didn’t want to judge Nabi while I didn’t know him, he’s a typical North African coach, who plays long balls and crosses, goes to the referee, and fights and influences other technical team members. And the players now none of them have character, not even the attackers.
“It’s only [Gaston] Sirino but look at his age and who is going to pass him. His situation is similar to that of Khama’s [Billiat] because Khama was average because of the environment.
“Chiefs are disjointed. It’s out of the picture I need to be honest,” he concluded.
Amakhosi will be playing Chippa United in their next Premier Soccer League outing.
