Ncikazi backs four Pirates players for PSL awards

Orlando Pirates interim coach Mandla Ncikazi has backed the club’s four players  for PSL awards.

The Buccaneers have been strongly competing for the Betway Premiership which was eventually won by their rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

Pirates still have two league matches remaining before they wrap up their season. They occupy the second place with 59 points after 26 matches.

Ncikazi says Nkosinathi Sibisi and Deon Hotto have “big opportunities” for the Defender of the Season award. He also tipped Sipho Chaine for the Goalkeeper of the Season and Tshegofatso Mabasa for the Golden Boot.

NCIKAZI BOTH ON PIRATES’ PLAYERS ON PSL AWARDS

“I think there’s so much to play for, for our team,” said Ncikazi as quoted by iDiski Times.

“One like you said, the records are important in the club. These players must be part of the history of having done what has happened like you are counting game number 19. Secondly, there’s still individual awards for all these players.

“A Goalkeeper of the Season might come out of our club. A Defender of the Season might come out. [Nkosinathi] Sibisi has a big opportunity, [Deon] Hotto has a big opportunity. Tshego [Tshegofatso Mabasa] is chasing the leading goal scorer. There’s still a possibility. Nothing is confirmed until the end.

“So, for me, there’s so much to play for, the history. But on top of everything these are professionals. They are paid to play and train.

“There’s no game that has got no impact especially if you play for a team like Orlando Pirates.”
