Here are all the matches and outcomes involving the reigning PSL champions

Mamelodi Sundowns saw their momentum checked when they were knocked out of a third domestic cup following their elimination from the Nedbank Cup.

Sundowns lost 2-0 to TS Galaxy on Saturday, February 21 in the Nedbank Cup Round of 16, missing out on a chance to make it to the quarter-final, and they are now left with the PSL and CAF Champions League as the only competitions to fight for.

Coach Miguel Cardoso made wholesale changes to his Sundowns team but did not get the result that he was looking for as it was Galaxy who benefited instead as they used the absence of goalkeeper Ronwen Williams to press the Brazilians and force mistakes.

How Galaxy downed Sundowns

Galaxy’s first goal arrived when Divine Lunga lost possession with Sphamandla Ngwenya going on to score past veteran goalkeeper Dennis Onyango before Sibiya brought down Seluleko Mahlambi, leading to a penalty scored by Junior Zindoga for 2-0.

It leaves Sundowns with the PSL as well as Champions League and it is perhaps a blessing in disguise as it reduces their fixtures as they look to focus on the two big trophies.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS’ NEXT MATCH & DATES

Sundowns will have to dust themselves off quickly as they have a tricky PSL match up next on Tuesday, February 24 away to AmaZulu FC.

AmaZulu have been tough to break down this season and come into Tuesday’s match in fifth position on 30 points from 17 games, five behind Sundowns, who have played one match less.
