Mamelodi Sundowns kept pace with Orlando Pirates in the PSL title race when they beat Golden Arrows 2-1 on Wednesday night.

Sundowns had to do it the hard way as Jayden Adams was sent off in the 51st minute but they were already leading 2-0 by then thanks to Teboho Mokoena’s 28th minute goal as well as Iqraam Rayners’ 48th minute strike.

Arrows threatened a comeback when Junior Dion slotted home a penalty 13 minutes from time but Sundowns had done enough to win the match and with Pirates also winning 2-1 away to Polokwane City, both sides are tied on 44 points.

Only goal difference separates top two

Pirates are now only ahead on goal difference, setting up an exciting title race, and it remains to be seen who between the two sides will blink first.

Sundowns have been in great form in the league recently, winning four straight PSL matches, with their quality coming to their rescue very late in games.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS’ NEXT MATCH & DATES

Sundowns will have a rare weekend off as their next game is slated for Tuesday March 10 when they play away to Orbit College. That will be three days before taking on Stade Malien of Mali in the CAF Champions League quarter-final.
