Orlando Pirates Transfer News: ‘I came to join the Buccaneers!’

South Africa international Siyanda Ndlovu shocked football lovers in Mzansi after snubbing Orlando Pirates, even after the medicals, for Mamelodi Sundowns.

The versatile attacker had an impressive 2025/26 season, in which he played 25 Premier Soccer League outings with a return of four goals and six assists. In total, the Bafana Bafana international made 31 appearances with a direct contribution to 12 goals.

Following Relebohile Mofokeng’s exit at the end of the 2025/26 season, Ndlovu was seen as a direct replacement. However, the 23-year-old changed his mind at the last minute, reportedly after the Sea Robbers gave him what he felt was not a good financial package.

In his recent interview with Ukhozi FM, Ndlovu has now explained what the situation was and his decision to join Masandawana as opposed to Kaizer Chiefs.

I came to join Pirates; how it changed? I don’t know, but I found myself at Sundowns,” Ndlovu told Victor Molefe on Ukhozi FM, as translated from Zulu.

“I won’t tell you but what happened is my boss at Golden Arrows told me that we’re going to sign with Sundowns now. But I don’t know what happened.

“I came here on Wednesday and the time went on until Monday with things uncertain, and then I ended up at Sundowns. I didn’t have a problem with what happened because I wanted to play for one of the big three clubs,” he concluded.

Despite the competition at Mamelodi Sundowns, Ndlovu has managed to make six appearances across all competitions, turning heads with his exploits.
