MTN8 was launched on Wednesday ahead of the quarter-final fixtures with the sponsor announcing increased prize money and exciting new features for the competition.
The 2024/25 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season kicks off this Saturday with the MTN8, as defending champions Orlando Pirates face SuperSport United and Stellenbosch FC host TS Galaxy.
The following weekend, Sekhukhune United will take on Cape Town City, while Mamelodi Sundowns battle Polokwane City.
To celebrate 16 years of partnership, MTN has increased the prize money from R8 million to R10 million.
The sponsor has also introduced new elements to enhance the overall competition experience.

R30 000 per goal, to be given to charities

To mark the 30-year milestone, MTN will contribute R30,000 per goal scored in the MTN8 tournament to the Goals for Charity initiative. Every goal scored will benefit various charitable organisations. Additionally, MTN8 Legends will contribute a combined R320,000 to their chosen charities through the Last Legend Standing Competition.”
