AmaZulu striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya grabbed the headlines after a horror challenge on Sihle Nduli in the Premier Soccer League fixture against the defending champions Orlando Pirates in Durban.

The midfielder was subbed in after what looked like a fracture. It was a massive blow for the defensive midfielder, who had been out of action since November 2025, when he was injured against Golden Arrows.

“Now we are going to do some analysis, to go deep into the analysis, and actually I cannot give you more updates about that,” coach Abdeslam Ouaddou responded when asked about Nduhli.

“We just have to do some exams, and we will see. But really, I hope that we didn’t lose him again,” he added.

Ngwenya has since taken to his social media account to apologise to the Bucs star for the challenge, insisting it wasn’t intetional.

“I’m sorry, my brother, for what happened. I did not do it intentionally. I hope you have a place in your heart to forgive me. Speedy recovery,” the Usuthu forward posted.

AmaZulu coach Arthur Zwane was not impressed with the incident, wishing Nduhli a quick recovery.

“On Nduli, I don’t like to see such things. I don’t want to see a player who is coming back from an injury with such talent and is out again injured. I wish him a speedy recovery,” he said during an interview with SuperSport.

“We don’t even want to see our players getting injured. Thando could have done much better there. I’m sorry to the player [Nduli]; hopefully he will recover very quickly,” he concluded.
