Kaizer Chiefs Transfer News: Star concedes ‘he grew up supporting Amakhosi’

Golden Arrows star Nhlanhla Zwane grew up supporting Kaizer Chiefs, according to his agent Pontsho Madumo.

The 26-year-old has been an asset for Abafana Bes’thende in the last three years, but is now in his final season with the club, unless the involved parties opt to extend it. Reports have it that Arrows are keen on keeping the player for a longer period.

His handlers feel their client has all the qualities needed to play for top teams and compete with the best players.

Initially, Zwane had been linked with Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, and the Premier Soccer League champions Orlando Pirates. Initially, Richards Bay had shown concrete interest in the player, but his current team refused to let him leave.

Zwane grew up supporting Chiefs

“We have spoken about the links to the big clubs. He wants to go there, play and test himself alongside the big players,” Madumo said in his interview with FARPost.

“If you get an opportunity at Chiefs, Pirates or Sundowns, other doors can open for you. He wants the national team coach to see him because his ambition is to play for Bafana Bafana. He grew up supporting Kaizer Chiefs.

Coach Manqoba Mngqithi played a huge role in helping Zwane join Arrows, who were reluctant to sign him, despite training for three with the KwaZulu-Natal outfit.

“He was still on trial. Nobody really knew him, and I don’t think the coach or management fully understood his position. When Manqoba arrived, he signed him and converted him into an eight or a 10. That was the turning point,” Madumo further explained.

It is interesting to see whether the Glamour Boys will go for the midfielder to bolster their squad at the end of the season.
