‘Orlando Pirates are going to die on the pitch!’ Abdeslam Ouaddou makes bold promise as PSL race intensifies

Orlando Pirates reclaimed the top spot on the Premier Soccer League table thanks to their 2-0 win over Richards Bay on Wednesday night at the Orlando Amstel Arena.

Kamogelo Sebelebele teed up Oswin Appollis for the opening goal in the first half before Evidence Makgopa settled the matter from a penalty spot late in the second half.

Despite having 47 points, the same as the defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, the Soweto giants are on top thanks to the superior goal difference. It is interesting to see how far this can go, but neither team would love to drop points, especially with 10 games to go.

Orlando Pirates ready to die

Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou is delighted with the way his players played at the Orlando Amstel Stadium. The former Morocco international has now promised the fans more from his playing unit, including ‘dying on the pitch’ to get maximum points.

“Everyone is dreaming to be champions, and we are fighting with wanting to be champions,” the ex-Marumo Gallants tactician opened up to SuperSport TV after the game.

“It a passion in the PSL and we are going to fight until the last minute. I can promise that we are going to die on the pitch and to believe until the last second,” he added.

Orlando Pirates ready for ‘difficult’ task

On Saturday, the Sea Robbers will have another tricky outing against Siwelele FC. With Masandawana playing in the CAF Champions League quarter-final against Stade Malien, it will be a massive opportunity for Bucs to open a three-point gap.

“Difficult game again, difficult game, I can tell you that for me the most consistent teams that we faced this season it was Richards Bay and Siwelele so another tough game,” Ouaddou continued.

“But if you want to champion, you need to go through that team to try to take points and win because it will be difficult.

“We know that the PSL is a very strong league, very good teams, if you want to be champions, you definitely have to go and win that game,” he concluded.
