Orlando Pirates played Kaizer Chiefs last weekend in the Premier Soccer League’s Soweto derby staged at the FNB Stadium.
The defending champions scored first through Yanela Mbuthuma, but Pule Mmodi made it 1-1 before the break. However, Tshepang Moremi struck the winning goal to ensure Abdeslam Ouaddou’s men went home with maximum points.

Thapelo Mokobodi provided both assists for the Sea Robbers who are keen to successfully defend their title.
Former Amakhosi coach Sergio Dos Santos has now explained why he feels the Glamour Boys were undone by the officials in all the two goals that were scored by the Sea Robbers.

“There is no question about it, that first goal of Pirates was offside, that is for sure. So straight away it changed things a little bit. When the ball was kicked to the Pirates player, he was already a little bit ahead of the Kaizer Chiefs player,” he told KickOff.
“Even the second goal, also from Pirates, was very close to being offside. But the first goal is definitely offside.
“I’m not gonna say the referee decided the game because, as the ball was played, the Chiefs player made a move. Som it looked like the linesman wasn’t watching properly. To him, the movement might have made it look like the Chiefs player came back to put the Pirates player onside.

“But by the time the Chiefs player moved, the ball had already been kicked. When the pass was made, he was already offside,” he concluded.
